Our testing expertise includes:
- Clinical healthcare
- Corporate wellness programs
- Employment/background checks
- Steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs)
Why did you open a drug and alcohol testing facility?
There are many unmet needs in the drug & alcohol testing industries, especially in today’s opioid crisis environment.
I am interested in the problem solving aspects of the business, where our team can assist employers to implement and enforce safety policy at work place; help families to ensure the safety of their children; and facilitate in many other ways. Unlike big companies, our business offers a local-touch: we interact directly with individuals, either a local resident, an attorney, or a HR manager, coming up with solutions that will address their needs. This direct consumer-facing role is very rewarding. We are here to help.
With significant changes taking place in the insurance landscape, we also start to offer wellness programs. By providing competitive pricing & excellent reporting system, we are able to significantly reduce individuals’ out-of-pocket expenses for diagnostic or personal tests. And our staff are very professional and nice.
What was your background? How many years?
I originally grew up in China, and came to US to study in grad school.
After completing my PhD in chemical engineering at MIT in 2012, I worked for a blood glucose meter company, Agamatrix, in New Hampshire for over a year, where I was very intrigued by the close interaction with patients. I also felt the joy and reward of helping others using new technologies.
I then moved to the Bay Area in 2014 and joined a startup, Nima, Inc, with two other-cofounders. We built the first consumer allergen (gluten) testing device in the market, Nima Sensor, helping millions of celiac disease patients navigate food choices while eating out and being in social settings. The device is currently available to purchase to gluten-intolerant consumers, and the team has also grown to 25+ people.
In 2017, I decided to purchase and work in ARCpoint Labs of Martinez, hoping to utilize my technology background to help many local folks in a unique way.
