COVID Testing & Vaccination Mandates for Travel Destinations

by | Dec 23, 2023 | Uncategorized

August 2022 COVID Testing & Vaccine Requirements

Over the past year, many nations have eased or ended their COVID-related travel restrictions. Nevertheless, many international destinations still mandate COVID-19 test results and vaccination status. Canada belongs to this list, which is quite a relevant detail for Marysville residents – given our proximity and populations’ frequent travel to and from the country.

At {Sub:BusinessName}, we understand that the inconsistencies between countries and ever-evolving updates make traveling confusing and complicated. Our goal with the blog is to help clarify some of the confusion and ambiguity – for Canada and other international destinations, such as China, Japan, and the Caribbean.

Please understand that the situation is constantly evolving. We highly recommend checking for updates directly from each country. And if you have any specific questions about COVID-19 testing, don’t hesitate to give our friendly {Sub:BusinessName} staff a call today!

Canadian COVID-Related Travel Restrictions

As of August 2022, the Canadian government no longer requires pre-entry testing under certain conditions. To avoid the pre-entry COVID test requirement, travelers 12 and older must offer proof of vaccination. Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated children 12 and younger do not need to provide a pre-entry test (if accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult).

At the same time, ArriveCAN continues to be a mandatory requirement for all foreign travelers visiting Canada. ArriveCAN is a mobile app implemented by the Canadian government to keep travelers safe and modernize international/cross-border travel. ArriveCAN is the current platform for providing mandatory travel and public health information before and after entry.

With proof of vaccination, foreign arrivals can qualify for exemption from quarantine and testing. Nevertheless, inbound travelers must report up-to-date information via ArriveCAN within 72 hours before arrival in Canada – regardless of vaccination status.

If you are a foreign national and refuse or fail to submit information via ArriveCAN for personal or discretionary purposes, you may be denied:

  • Boarding by air or ship
  • Entry by car, rail, or border crossing

China, Japan, & Caribbean COVID-Related Travel Restrictions.

We offer COVID-19 testing for travelers heading to China & Japan. China remains one of the strictest nations regarding COVID-related requirements for boarding and entry. A negative COVID-19 test is still required for entry, and you also must provide proof of a certificate of a negative Covid-19 nucleic acid test result issued within 3 days before boarding. In addition to the nucleic acid test requirement, all inbound passengers must quarantine for at least 14 days upon arrival. You will also be subject to testing upon arrival. Release from quarantine may require blood, nasal, or oral swab tests.

For Japan, all inbound foreign national visitors, regardless of age, must receive a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure. This stipulation disqualifies time spent on domestic travel legs prior to the international flight. In other words, you cannot count a domestic layover as part of the 72-hour timeframe. A negative COVID-19 test must comply with the stringent requirements prescribed by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare.

Caribbean travel is perhaps the most confusing of the three, given the multiple governments and requirements within the region. We highly recommend checking the regularly updated restrictions on Travel Weekly for country-specific information. Many countries are easing restrictions as the world takes a laxer approach to the pandemic. Nevertheless, some islands, such as Anguilla, still uphold COVID-19 travel restrictions. On August 8th, 2022, Anguilla plans to drop pre-arrival testing requirements for vaccinated travelers. However, unvaccinated travelers will still be required to present a negative RT-PCR test taken within three days of arrival.

Be a Responsible Citizen: Prioritize Public Health by Booking a COVID-19 Test or Vaccination

Regardless of protocols and requirements, it is wise to do everything possible to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Performing a proactive COVID-19 test before traveling is a considerate gesture – helping you make an informed health decision that will benefit yourself, your loved ones, and the greater community.

At {Sub:BusinessName}, we offer a cost-effective, fast, and accurate COVID-19 RAPID Antigen Virus Test that will provide reliable results in just 4 Hours. Our COVID-19 Antigen test is designed to detect the SARS-CoV-2 virus via a simple and painless procedure involving a nasal/throat swab. This test currently satisfies all COVID-19 requirements for international travel. However, we highly suggest double-checking with the embassy of the country you’re planning to visit for specific conditions and updates.

We also offer expedited testing services for COVID-19 RT-PCR/NAAT screening. This testing provides same-day detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and will reveal active/live antibodies of the SARS Cov-2 virus. Before scheduling an expedited COVID-19 RT-PCR appointment, we highly recommend confirming COVID-19 testing requirements with your airline & destination.

Test results will be provided the same day:

  • For results by 5:00 pm, testing must be completed by 12:30 pm
  • For end-of-day results, testing must be completed between 12:30 pm and 5:00 pm

Last but not least, we also offer vaccination services for the 3 FDA-approved options:

  • The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine
  • The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine
  • The Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine
