DNA Testing: Marlborough
DNA testing is a method of analyzing a person's genetic code to identify specific characteristics or to confirm or disprove a relationship between individuals. There are several types of DNA tests, including those used for paternity testing, genetic disease testing, and forensic testing.
Paternity DNA testing involves comparing the DNA profile of two or more people to determine if they have a biological relationship. There are many situations where a person might need a paternity DNA test. If a family member in the United States wants to bring a relative to the U.S., they may need an immigration DNA test to prove they are related. This situation often arises in cases where the relative doesn’t have the necessary documentation from their home country.
DNA testing can also be done between a child and its paternal grandparents, between two or more siblings, and even between a child and aunt & uncles. At ARCpoint Labs, we also provide prenatal DNA testing. Also called non-invasive paternity testing, this type of test involves doing a safe blood draw from the mom and taking a cheek swab from the alleged father. Our lab then extracts the baby’s DNA from the mom’s blood sample and compares it to the father’s.
All our DNA samples are tested at an AABB accredited laboratory – the highest accreditation for a DNA lab.
