The PLAC Test, or Lipoprotein-Associated
Phospholipase A2, is a medical examination used to measure levels of this
specific enzyme in the blood, associated with inflammation in the arteries.
Elevated PLAC levels don’t directly cause symptoms but serve as an indicator of
potential vascular inflammation. High PLAC levels are linked to an increased
risk of cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes. Physicians
recommend this test, especially for individuals with known cardiovascular risk
factors, to assess their vascular health and determine appropriate preventive
measures and treatments.
