CPL: Lipid Panel – Cedar Park, TX
A lipid panel quantifies the fats and fat-like substances that circulate in blood and function as sources of cellular energy, components for cellular membranes, and are precursors in the synthesis of bile acids and steroid hormones. Lipids, such as cholesterol and triglyceride, are insoluble in blood until bound into lipoprotein particles consisting of combinations of proteins, cholesterol, triglycerides, and phospholipid molecules. The particles are classified by density into very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and high-density lipoproteins (HDL) (AACC 2019).
