CERULOPLASMIN

Ceruloplasmin testing measures levels of this copper-carrying protein to help assess liver function and related conditions. Low ceruloplasmin levels may be associated with hepatic insufficiency and protein loss syndromes, while elevated levels can occur during inflammation (acute-phase response), oral contraceptive use, cholestasis, and primary biliary cirrhosis.
