Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a glycoprotein expressed in normal mucosal cells and overexpressed in adenocarcinoma cells, most notably those of colorectal cancer. CEA elevations are also seen in cancers such as breast, lung, and stomach, as well non-neoplastic conditions such as tobacco use.
